Common use

Serophene is an non-steroid anti-estrogen. Mechanism of its action consists in a specific binding with receptor for estrogen in ovary and hypophis. In patients with low estrogen levels in organism it causes estrogen effect and in ones with high estrogen levels it causes anti-estrogen effect. Its small doses increase secretion of gonadotropins (prolactin, Follicle stimulating hormone, FSH and interstitial cell-stimulating hormone), stimulates ovulation; in large doses slows secretion of gonadotropins. In the whole action of Serophene consists in stimulation of ovulation to occur and prepares the body for pregnancy. This medication may be used for male patients with infertility caused by low production of sperm.

Dosage and direction

Serophene is administered to stimulate ovulation 50 mg 1 time a day at bedtime, starting from 5th day of the menstrual cycle during 5 days (in the absence of the cycle - at any time). In case of no effect (ovulation does not occur within 30 days) increase the dose to 150 mg / day or lengthen the course to 10 days. Take exactly as prescribed, do not take the medication in larger quantities.


Before to take Serophene notify your doctor if you have ever had any allergic reaction to clomiphene, liver diseases, mental depression, thrombophlebitis. Possible side effect

Together with allergy symptoms such as swelling of lips, tongue, or face or hives in some patients may appear the following conditions: ovarian enlargement presenting as abdominal or pelvic pain, flushing, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, blurred vision, headache, abnormal uterine bleeding.

Drug interaction

Missed dose

If you missed a dose take it as soon as you remember, but not if it is almost time of the next intake by your schedule. If so skip the missed dose. Do not try to make up a missed dose by taking an extra one.

Store Serophene in a dry place away from sunlight at room temperature between 15-30 C (59-86 F).

Bactericidal action of aminoglycosides is related to the interfering with the synthesis of proteins on the ribisomes in the microbial cells. Among all bacteriostatic antibiotics macrolides and tetracyclines are the most indicated groups. Therapeutic effect of macrolides is associated with inhibiting the synthesis of proteins on the ribosomes in the microbial cell. As usual macrolides exert bacteriostatic action, however in high amounts are able to exert bactericidal action on some microorganisms. Besides antibacterial action, some macrolides possesses immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory action.

Another group of bacteriostatic antibiotics are used less frequently as many microorganisms became resistant to the this type of antibiotics. Bacteriostatic effect of the tetracyclines is associated with inhibiting the synthesis of proteins. Tetracycline are indicated in clamydia infections, rickettsial disease, some zoonosis, severe acne.

Antibiotics are indicated and used only in the cases of the bacteria is sensitive to the antibiotics. There some specific tests like antibiogram that will help to determine the right antibiotic and corresponding dose.
